Privacy policy

Effective date: September 24, 2026

This policy explains what The Mini Split Shop (theminisplitshop.com), operated by Setpile Corp, collects from you, why, and who sees it. It is written in plain English. If it does not answer your question, email setpile@gmail.com.

What we collect

Order and contact data

When you place an order or contact us, we collect what you give us: name, email address, phone number, billing address, shipping address, the products you bought, and anything you write in a message or the contact form. Payment card numbers go to Shopify Payments. We never see or store the full card number.

Device data

When you visit the site, Shopify's platform records standard technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, time on page, and the site that referred you. Some of this comes through cookies (see below).

Account data

If you create a customer account or use Shop Pay, Shopify stores your login and saved details under Shopify's own privacy policy.

How we use it

To fulfill your order: place it with our supplier, arrange freight, send tracking, and answer questions.
To handle returns, damage claims, and warranty claims.
To collect and remit sales tax and keep the accounting records the law requires.
To prevent fraud and keep the site running.
To send order emails: confirmation, shipping, and tracking. These are part of the transaction, and you cannot opt out of them while you have an open order.
To send marketing email only if you opted in at checkout or on the site. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

We use order data only to fulfill and support orders. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

Shopify. The store runs on Shopify. Shopify hosts the site, processes checkout, and stores order and account data. Shopify's privacy practices apply to payment and account data. See Shopify's privacy policy.
Payment processors. Shopify Payments, and Shop Pay, Apple Pay, or Google Pay if you use them, handle your payment under their own terms.
Our supplier and its freight carrier. To deliver your order we send your name, shipping address, and phone number to the supplier and the freight carrier. They use it for delivery only: routing the truck and, if the carrier does so, calling to set a delivery window.
The manufacturer. If you make a warranty claim, we pass along what the manufacturer needs to process it, including your name, contact information, and proof of purchase.
Professional and legal. Our accountant, and tax authorities, courts, or law enforcement when the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

Shopify sets cookies to run the cart, checkout, and login, and to collect the analytics we use to see which pages and products get traffic. We use Shopify's built-in analytics. If we add a separate analytics or advertising tool later, we will update this policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. The cart and checkout may not work without the cookies Shopify needs.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as we need them to support the order, including returns and the manufacturer's warranty period, and for as long as tax and accounting rules require, which is generally 7 years. Support emails are kept as long as they are needed to resolve the question and for a reasonable time after. Shopify keeps its own copies under its own retention rules.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email setpile@gmail.com from the address on your order, or write to the address below. We answer within 30 days. We may keep what the law requires us to keep, such as tax records of a completed sale, and we will tell you if that applies. Residents of states with privacy laws that give extra rights, such as California, can use the same email to exercise them. We do not treat anyone differently for making a request.

Security

Checkout runs over an encrypted connection, and payment data stays with Shopify Payments. We limit who at Setpile Corp can see order data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise a breach will never happen. If one affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

Children

This site sells electrical equipment and is not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

We may link to the manufacturer's site or to Shopify's policies. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top changes when we do. Material changes will be posted here before they take effect.
